I felt incredibly honoured and privileged to photograph J & J's beautiful proposal photoshoot in Oxford, in one of the city's most magical, unique and iconic locations: the Duke Humfrey's Library, part of the magnificent Bodleian Library.

J. reached to me in search for a photographer capturing the proposal he had planned for his partner, upon their travels to the UK. Inspired by their shared love for academia, arts and literature, he decided to get on one knee in one of England's most magical places. The Duke Humfrey's Library, part of Oxford's Bodleian Library, is the oldest reading room in the Bodleian Library, known and loved for its ethereal, historical atmosphere and absolutely beautiful interior. Fantasy enthusiasts will also recognise it as a filming location for Hogwarts Library. Photographing this beautiful proposal in this incredibly unique location felt surreal, to say the least.

Behind the scenes of photographing the proposal
I travelled from London to Oxford well ahead of time, to be able to familiarise myself with the location. As I've spent a lot of time in Oxford, I know the area well, but I hadn't been to this particular part of the library. The team at the Bodleian Library were incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure I knew exactly where to be. As part of their visit to Oxford, J had booked a private tour for the Duke Humfrey's library, little did his partner know he would be proposing to her in the middle of those beautiful book shelves! The proposal itself could not have been more beautiful to witness and photograph, what a beautiful couple!
